I have to warn you. If you’re prone to seizures onset by visual stimuli, for the love of God, don’t open their Myspace page. If you’re in the clouds, then by all means have a little fun.

I was first turned onto Cecil Frena’s electrically addicting synchophonic electronic pop project thanks to Shawn, a local Madison, WI blogger of Drunken Attraction and I’d like to get out there that Cecil and gang know how to show their fans a fucking good time. Just last year, if you squealed “Gobble Gobble,” I’d think Thanksgiving. It was garage obscure among the saturated indie groups carving a placeholder for themselves. Fast forward to 2011, Thanksgiving takes a back seat.

Cecil is performing what should be a cacophonic orgy of an unpredictable gush of synth, screeching and head banging base, but for some reason I can’t fathom why my brain registers the mechanical “Lawn Knives,” “Boring Horror,” and “Wrinklecarver” as melodic, to a frenzied audience at SXSW. It’s all the more for Gobble Gobble to infect more ears and pave the way for grossly indulging his cult-like followers. I admit it. I’ve been infected. You can’t help but join in the childish flailing with four antsy young adults screaming and banging on helmets, drums and who knows what. It’s like I’m on 4Loko and blood thinners – at the same time.
